Platform Engineer - Observability - Internal Job Opportunity
Join our journey! Feel the freedom, adventure, and excitement of driving innovation. You'll be part of a great team and make a real impact on future mobility by accelerating digital transformation
Purpose of the Role
We are looking for hands-on Platform Engineers to join Team Beacons, a newly formed team building and operating the new Observability Platform at WirelessCar.
The mission:
Build and operate the observability stack
Act as advocates for observability standards and best practices across the organization
This role contributes directly to enabling reliable, scalable, and transparent systems by ensuring developers and teams have the tools, guidance, and paved paths they need.
We welcome candidates across the seniority spectrum. You may be:
A senior leader who takes initiative, sets direction, and actively drives progress while working hands-on alongside the team
Or more junior, curious engineer eager to learn, deepen your expertise, and grow your responsibilities over time
You will join a collaborative environment where shared ownership and practical progress matter.
Key Responsibilities
Drive the architectural design and implementation of the observability stack
Actively engage with users to understand daily challenges and improve developer experience
Advocate for observability standards, documenting best practices and paved paths
Design, build, and maintain the observability stack for ease of use and long-term operational efficiency
Stay up to date with developments in the OpenTelemetry ecosystem
Operate the observability stack in production
What You’ll Be Part Of
You will help shape a modern, scalable observability platform while building internal standards and improving developer experience across the organization.
This is a role for engineers who want to combine platform thinking, operational responsibility, and community advocacy — all while staying hands-on.
We believe that you bring
· Strong communication and collaboration skills
· Interest in developer advocacy within observability
· Familiarity with, or interest in, OpenTelemetry
· Familiarity with, or interest in, the LGTM stack (Loki, Grafana, Tempo, Mimir)
· Experience as a software engineer, or strong ability to understand and work with code
· Understanding of developers’ observability needs and effective instrumentation practices
· Interest and ability to configure and operate ready-made solutions (focus on configuration and operations rather than heavy development)
· Familiarity with Kubernetes and/or ECS
· Strong, documented problem-solving skills with a hands-on, learning-by-doing mindset
The following will give you an edge:
Knowledge of or interest in additional observability tooling
Familiarity with or interest in learning Go
Experience as an SRE or within an SC team, with understanding of operations and support best practices
