We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer – Cloud & Backend to join our cross-functional DevOps team.

In this role, you will design, build, deploy, and operate cloud-native, microservice-based solutions end-to-end. You will provide technical leadership for complex systems and critical components, contribute to architecture and technical direction, and take ownership of the quality, reliability, and sustainability of the services you help build.

You will work with modern technologies including Java, AWS, Kubernetes, microservices, and CI/CD, while collaborating closely with developers, architects, Product Owners, and other stakeholders.

Beyond individual delivery, you will help shape engineering practices, reduce technical debt and systemic risk, mentor engineers, and contribute to the long-term technical evolution of our systems and platform.

Here’s what you’ll focus on

• Design, build, deploy, and operate cloud-native, microservice-based solutions end-to-end.

• Lead architecture and technical direction for complex systems and critical components.

• Translate business and technical requirements into robust, scalable, secure, and cost-effective solutions.

• Own delivery outcomes including quality, reliability, performance, and sustainability.

• Drive continuous improvement of systems, services, and engineering practices.

• Define, promote, and uphold engineering standards, security practices, operational excellence, and quality.

• Identify, prioritize, and reduce technical debt and systemic risks across services and teams.

• Make technical decisions with awareness of customer value, cost, business impact, and operational considerations.

• Lead technical discussions, design reviews, and code reviews.

• Mentor and support engineers through knowledge sharing, technical guidance, and daily collaboration.

• Lead technical initiatives and improvements when needed.

• Collaborate in cross-functional Agile teams to clarify system context, dependencies, risks, and the bigger picture.

• Take responsibility across the complete DevOps lifecycle, including development, testing, deployment, monitoring, and production support.

• Troubleshoot complex production issues and drive root-cause analysis and long-term improvements.

• Contribute to engineering culture and support the wider organization with deep technical expertise.

You are an experienced software engineer who combines strong technical expertise with ownership and leadership. You enjoy solving complex problems, making pragmatic technical decisions, and helping teams build reliable and maintainable solutions.

You are comfortable taking the lead when needed while working collaboratively with engineers, architects, product stakeholders, and customers.

Technical Skills

• 8–12 years of professional experience in software engineering, backend development, cloud engineering, or a related field.

• Strong hands-on experience with Java 11 or higher.

• Strong experience with AWS, including several of the following:

  • Lambda

  • EC2

  • ECS

  • SNS / SQS

  • IAM

  • DynamoDB

  • CloudFormation

  • CloudWatch

  • API Gateway and REST APIs

• Strong experience with Kubernetes, including building, deploying, and administering solutions.

• Strong understanding and practical experience with microservices architecture.

• Strong experience with JUnit and Test-Driven Development (TDD).

• Strong experience with Git.

• Experience with CI/CD in production environments.

• Strong understanding of DevOps and complete lifecycle responsibility.

• Experience with certificate lifecycle management.

• Practical experience with Agile methodologies, preferably Scrum and/or SAFe.

• Strong understanding of software quality, security, reliability, performance, and maintainability.

• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Architecture & Technical Leadership

• Proven experience leading architecture and technical direction for complex systems or critical components.

• Ability to make sound technical decisions and explain technical trade-offs.

• Experience identifying and managing technical debt, systemic risks, and dependencies.

• Ability to balance technical quality with customer value, cost, delivery, and business impact.

• Experience establishing or promoting engineering standards and best practices.

• Ability to provide technical guidance without unnecessarily prescribing implementation details.

Collaboration & Leadership

• Experience mentoring and developing engineers.

• Strong communication and technical influencing skills.

• Ability to collaborate effectively across engineering, product, architecture, and business functions.

• Experience working in cross-functional and distributed teams.

• Comfortable leading technical initiatives and facilitating technical discussions.
