Senior Software Engineer
Build, shape and operate software that powers connected mobility.
About the Role
Are you an experienced Software Engineer who enjoys solving complex technical problems, taking ownership and helping teams build reliable, scalable solutions? As a Senior Software Engineer, you will work end-to-end across design, development, deployment and operations. You will stay close to the technology while also contributing to architecture, technical direction and engineering practices.
You will work in a cross-functional environment with engineers, architects, product stakeholders and customers, helping turn complex requirements into robust and sustainable solutions.
Your Impact
You will combine hands-on engineering with technical leadership and end-to-end ownership. Your responsibilities will include:
Design, build, deploy and operate cloud-native, microservice-based solutions, taking responsibility across development, testing, deployment, monitoring and production support.
Shape architecture and technical direction for complex systems and critical components, making pragmatic decisions that balance quality, security, reliability, performance, cost and customer value.
Drive continuous improvement by identifying technical debt, systemic risks and dependencies, and improving engineering standards, operational practices and ways of working.
Lead technical discussions, design reviews, code reviews and technical initiatives, while mentoring engineers through knowledge sharing and day-to-day collaboration.
Troubleshoot complex production issues, drive root-cause analysis and turn learnings into long-term improvements.
Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation, helping monitor, troubleshoot and resolve production issues when needed.
Contribute to the wider engineering community and help teams understand system context, dependencies, risks and the bigger picture.
What We're Looking For
You are an experienced software engineer who combines strong technical expertise with ownership, sound judgement and a pragmatic mindset. You are comfortable taking the lead when needed, while working collaboratively with engineers, architects, product stakeholders and customers.
Technical skills
8–12 years of professional experience in software engineering, backend development, cloud engineering or a related field.
Strong hands-on experience with Java 11 or higher, Git, JUnit and Test-Driven Development (TDD).
Strong experience with AWS, including several of Lambda, EC2, ECS, SNS/SQS, IAM, DynamoDB, CloudFormation, CloudWatch and API Gateway/REST APIs.
Strong experience with Kubernetes, including building, deploying and administering solutions, together with solid experience of microservices architecture and CI/CD in production environments.
Strong understanding of DevOps and complete lifecycle ownership, including software quality, security, reliability, performance and maintainability.
Experience with certificate lifecycle management, Agile methodologies (preferably Scrum and/or SAFe), and complex troubleshooting.
Architecture & technical leadership
You can shape technical direction for complex systems, explain trade-offs clearly and balance technical quality with delivery, customer value, cost and business impact. You are comfortable identifying technical debt and systemic risks, establishing engineering standards and providing technical guidance without unnecessarily prescribing implementation details.
Collaboration & leadership
You enjoy mentoring engineers, sharing knowledge and facilitating technical discussions. You communicate effectively across engineering, product, architecture and business, and are comfortable working in distributed teams and leading technical initiatives without relying on formal authority.
How you work
You are curious, pragmatic and proactive. You take ownership and follow through on commitments, are comfortable making decisions in complex environments, and enjoy helping others grow. You can move between technical details and the bigger picture while building trust and collaboration around you.
It would be a plus if you have
Experience with Python or Golang, Azure, Spring/Spring Boot, Maven or Linux/Unix environments.
Experience with security concepts and best practices, or cloud/Kubernetes certifications.
Experience with large-scale distributed systems or driving technical improvement initiatives across multiple teams.
Experience working in international or globally distributed organisations.
